Liberty and Affiliate Overview
Liberty Investment Properties, Inc. specializes in the development and operation of high-performing
income producing commercial real estate.
In the early 1990's Liberty became a leading joint venture development partners to Shurgard Storage
Centers, Inc., (acquired in August 2006 by Public Storage, USA NYSE:PSA), responsible for the successful
development and management of over 40 Shurgard properties in the Central Florida region.
As a result of Shurgard's 2005 strategic decision
to de-emphasize joint venture partnerships, Liberty
restructured its self-storage portfolio through
the divestment of its Shurgard properties and establishment
of the "My Neighborhood Storage Center" brand (www.myneighborhoodstoragecenter.com)
which now consists of 10 locations in Central Florida.
As part of this restructuring Liberty Lodging, LLC was established in support of Liberty's expansion beyond
self-storage into the development of a national portfolio with over 100 economy extended stay properties as a
leading franchisee in the Value Place Value Franchise System (www.valueplace.com), being the latest franchise
offering by Jack DeBoer (originator of the extended stay concept) who previously founded Residence Inn,
Summerfield Suites and Candlewood Suites.
Liberty currently has 10 Value Places open and plans to have 30 open by the end of 2008 in markets that include Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Ohio, Texas and Utah.
